It's the Advent Season once again! By far, it is my most favorite season of the year... The anticipation of that one grand celebration followed by the climax of New Year's Eve make it very special to me...

It brings inexplicable joy which has inspired me to write four poems about it in the last few years. As I go along my life, I will definitely write more...

The last few days of the past century Winding down the nineties The very first of a special year We all call the Great Jubilee Once a thousand years' event A milestone, on that night, began When we were little children Though I was almost adolescent The air was filled with cheerful music As I recall those days so nostalgic Even then, even now, I always remember How special those holidays were The joys of that pleasant night The Christmas Eve of nineteen ninety nine Always makes me breathe a long, long sigh For one thing remains the only sign Of my childhood's joys and happinesses Of my naivete and innocences Of the world's absolute pureness As I perceived through all my senses The feelings I still have Forever kept in my head In my heart, in my very core Mem'ries that'll never be torn Were the holiday nights Of December Nineteen Ninety Nine When I turn the knob of a figurine That plays Silent, Silent Night The music that gave me bliss Is now gone except the memories...

The Drama of Casa Simeon

Near the easternmost coast of the province of Albay , facing the wide expanse of Pacific Ocean, is Bacacay ,  a resort town known for its volcanic black sand beaches . Standing in its very center is Casa Simeon , a mansion said to be constructed in 1920 . I was prompted to visit this old house by the closing of its art exhibit the next day as it turns out that my friend, an astral twin, Regine Eina Esternon , has one of her beautiful paintings displayed inside. It was late in the afternoon when I finally mustered enough willpower to do what I had wanted to do since several weeks ago. My brother came along with me and his waze app proved to be very helpful as we found the old house in an unfamiliar area. We used to visit Bacacay for its beaches but not for something found inside its poblacion. I’ve encountered many beautiful and intelligent women in my life but I didn’t feel any love for them. There was always something lacking.  The joys of conversing with a smart lady often brightens my day but the connection ends as is, and no more. A beautiful lady I could always gaze on like the stars in a moonless night; yet, I couldn’t even begin to talk to her. You are different. There is this something between us that continuously binds us despite us being opposite in so many ways. I can feel in you something I do not feel with others. The beauty that still mesmerises us Of the mountain who used to be a lass Every time we set our eyes on her Something makes us wonder For how can Mother Nature be so gracious To give us something which, though, we need not choose Is, nevertheless, spectacular That no other mountain is at par? She’s beyond magnificent Though she explodes every now and then Her many eruptions Conjured rousing captions What would scare us to leave? The magma? The raining of ash? The broken debris? The boulders? Or the lava-fountaining and showers? But these are the same matters That add to the volcano’s wonders Because from a safe distance You would see some other-worldly trance... Sta. Magdalena: A Hidden Paradise!

  You've probably seen white-sand, black-sand, and even pink-sand beaches. But have you seen a beach that transitions to different colors? Source: Ang Bongto ko, Sta. Magdalena FB page The remote coastal town of  Sta. Magdalena, Sorsogon has  so much variety in its hidden beaches and coves. Although neighboring Matnog  is more famous due to its pink-sand beaches and islands, Sta. Magdalena still deserves the moniker  "Hidden Paradise"  for curious reasons. The Luxury of Peace: How I Attained "Zen"

  If I were to describe my life in the last four years, I would say that it was a chapter of incredible transition. In February 2022, I would have an entire sleepless night every two weekends for whatever reason. Tossing and turning in my bed, listening to the most relaxing classical music but with eyes staring at semi-lit ceiling was the normal. But things have changed dramatically over the last few years. Today, it would only take a minute, sometimes fifteen minutes at most, for me to fall asleep. Perhaps, I'm in a brand new chapter of my life. And I wish and hope that this lasts indefinitely. This is the stage where I have "peace," where I don't have problems out of my control, where I don't have enemies I would sometimes think of, where I don't have debts anymore, where I am contented with my life but looking forward to a bright future. Lago di Como: A Lakeside Paradise 🇮🇹

Fact is indeed stranger than fiction. I never thought it is possible for a region to be built entirely around a lake, but our next destination was exactly that. Como Province is literally a lakeside paradise whose metes and bounds follow the shape and contour of a lake. It abuts the Swiss border, making it distinct from the rest of Italy. It already felt like an entirely different nation, and the Swiss Alps were already visible on this part of the country. Before making it to Lake Como, I absolutely had no idea what it would be like. My sister prepared all of the itinerary and she single-handedly selected all our destinations, without any help or even discretion from me (I just wanted to be surprised 🤷🏼‍♂️).
